This movie is such a deviation from those PG-13 versions (this is rated R) that you will either love it or just out right be disgusted with it. Let me just get this out of the way, I was never a hardcore fan of the previous Hellboy films or the comics, I honestly just watched it because Ron Perlman is awesome. 3.5 for character designs and fun easter eggs, -1.5 for boring plot and being mediocre in almost every other aspect It was missing the fun of the Pearlman films. IDK, next film, focus on making relationships feel fleshed out and fun. ![]() I miss the relationship between Pearlman hellboy and Father. Nobodys relationships feel well fleshed out. I really enjoyed all the monster designs, especially the pig and the vampire. Went with my husband, who loved it much more than the Pearlman ones. ![]() Big pro, though- the demons actually scared me. I did enoy some of the easter eggs for fans and I felt bad for the poor changeling-pig, whereas in the comics his motivations were kind of "Oh, fair folk are weird". While it had a lot to live up to, and it was kind of a huge downer that I had such expectations and got such. The Nimue arc is my favourite, and I was hoping they'd do the whole 'turn into a dragon/kill Hellboy' at the end to start the "Hellboy: In Hell" arc.
